MEET THE DOC

Dr. Jacob White

I grew up on a dirt road in northeast Alabama at the foothills of Appalachia, where my childhood was immersed in the natural beauty of the region. Surrounded by rolling hills, dense forests, and serene rivers, my early years were filled with exploration and a deep connection to the land. In our small town of Hammondville, we lived a self-sufficient lifestyle, growing our own vegetables and preserving them, as well as raising our own beef, chicken, and pork. This upbringing greatly influenced my philosophy of health and nutrition.

During my formative years, I attended high school in Fort Payne, Alabama. My interest in science and technology blossomed, inspired by the works of Michael Crichton. This led me to pursue a degree in Biophysics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where I graduated magna cum laude with Honors in Physics and Science and Technology.

I went to medical school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where I developed a deep passion for clinical medicine and pediatric care. During this time, I married my wife and we had our first daughter. We hold a deep love for the Shenandoah Valley.

During my Pediatric Residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Chattanooga, I had a broad range of clinical interests and skills, which led me to pursue full-scope general pediatrics. After completing my residency and becoming board certified on October 13, 2022, I practiced full-scope inpatient and outpatient pediatrics at Graves Gilbert Clinic in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

While in Kentucky, I had the privilege of caring for children from diverse backgrounds, including refugees, migrants, foster families, and vaccine-hesitant families disaffected from the healthcare system. By offering education and understanding, I helped many families make informed decisions about their children's health.

Learning about the shortage of pediatricians in Huntsville and North Alabama inspired us to return and build a practice to help close the care gap in our community. I was acquainted with Dr. Charles Horton, who offered mentorship and guidance as I was starting my practice. This ultimately led to my assisting his transition into retirement at Twickenham Pediatrics.

Now, my family and I are excited to announce the opening of Rocket City Pediatrics. Our mission is to provide exceptional, compassionate care to our community, aiming to reach for the stars in pediatric health.

My amazing wife (who is also my childhood sweetheart and our practice manager) and I have three wonderful daughters. We are passionate about giving back to our community and providing the highest level of care to the children and families we serve. I firmly believe in daily self-improvement across physical, cognitive, and spiritual domains. This holistic approach to life and health is something I strive to incorporate into my practice, ensuring that every child receives comprehensive and compassionate care.

Thank you for considering me as your pediatrician. I look forward to partnering with you in the health and well-being of your children. Please review my philosophy statements to ensure my practice is right for you.
